Cash back on top of a sale

Smith's takes money off at the register: the sale price, and the digital coupon you clipped. Ibotta is a separate app that pays cash back after you buy, once it sees your receipt. The two don't know about each other, so one item can have both.

An example

A 48 oz tub of ice cream is $6.99 on the shelf. A Smith's digital coupon brings it to $3.99 at the register. Ibotta has $1.50 cash back on the same tub.

• You pay $3.99 at pickup. That is the price that counts. $3.00 off, 42%
• If Ibotta pays, $1.50 comes back to you later. If Ibotta pays: $4.50 off, 64%

What we have seen on pickup orders

Ibotta has not paid us cash back on a Smith's pickup receipt so far. Ibotta's own help says pickup orders from Kroger's stores (Smith's is one) do not count for its in-store receipt offers. It may not always tell a pickup receipt from an in-store one, so you can upload yours and see.

That is why the big price on every deal is the price at the register, and why what you saved counts Ibotta only when it actually pays.

If you want to try

1. Before you shop: in Ibotta, find the item and tap the plus to add the offer. Read the size and the kind: a 48 oz offer does not pay on a 56 oz tub.
2. After pickup: in Ibotta, choose Smith's and photograph the whole receipt, top to bottom. If your order didn't come with a printed receipt, ask for one at pickup.
3. Send it within seven days. Ibotta pays only the offers you added before you sent the receipt.

Fetch

Fetch gives points for the same receipt, and more for brands running offers in the Fetch app. It takes receipts up to 14 days old.

Chedda can't see Ibotta

Chedda can't read or add Ibotta or Fetch offers. Your list names the offers to look for, and you add them in those apps.
