Fuel points

How your groceries earn fuel points, what they take off a gallon, and when they expire.

Every dollar you spend at Smith's with your Shopper's Card earns fuel points, and fuel points take money off gas.

How you earn

  • One point for every $1.00 on eligible purchases, in the store or on a pickup or delivery order.
  • Some things never earn: gas, tobacco, tax, pickup and delivery fees, postage, lottery and money orders. Alcohol doesn't earn in some places, and gift cards and prescriptions earn only when Smith's marks them.
  • 4X fuel points give four points per dollar on what the offer covers. Most need you to clip the offer's digital coupon in the Smith's app first, so clip it before you check out.

How you use them

  • Every 100 points take $0.10 off a gallon, up to 1,000 points ($1.00 off a gallon) on one fill-up.
  • Up to 35 gallons, at a Smith's or Kroger fuel center. Participating Shell stations take them too.
  • They expire on the last day of the month after you earn them. Points earned in October are gone after November 30.

For example, 400 points take $0.40 off a gallon. On a 30 gallon fill, that is $12.00.

Gas or groceries

In June 2026, Kroger said points can also come off groceries: $1.00 for every 100 points, up to $10.00 a day. Check the points page in your Smith's app to see whether your store offers it.

Do the math first. On a 30 gallon fill, 100 points are worth $3.00 at the pump and $1.00 at the register.

Checked on Oct 16, 2026 against Smith's fuel points questions, Kroger's points questions and Kroger's announcement of June 25, 2026.
